What is steam boiler bottom blowdown?

Conventional boiler water treatment systems leave small amounts of impurities in the water that are precipitated by boiler chemicals. Impurities should not end up on the boiler surfaces. With bottom blowdown, this substance is removed.

Choosing a bottom blowdown valve

We assist in selecting a bottom blowdown valve that meets the application’s requirements.

The bottom blowdown valve must open quickly to create a “shock effect” that dislodges the sludge stuck to the boiler bottom. The valve should be open only briefly to avoid wasting boiler water. GESTRA (M)PA bottom blowdown valves are designed specifically for this purpose, either manual or with a diaphragm actuator. We supply the valves, if needed, equipped with limit switches, actuator control valve, and timer.
