The overall lengths of flanged non-return valves conform to standard dimensions, so replacement of broken valves can be done without pipe modifications. In new installations, it is often more economical to use non-return valves installed between flanges, as they are lighter in construction and more cost-effective.
In waterworks construction, flanged ball non-return valves remain a viable option if the medium contains material that clogs a conventional non-return valve.
