What is a mixing valve?

A mixing valve is used to combine two different gases. The medium has two inlets and one outlet. Inside the valve, there is a system of shut-off valves connected in series, whose movement adjusts the flow and mixing ratio. The mixing valves are automatic to ensure that the mixture remains consistent in a changing process.

Using a mixing valve, it is possible to adjust the energy density of fuel gas by mixing two different gases. In this way, the gas flow directed to, for example, a burner, engine, or gas network is stabilized. The mixing valve can also be used to control the temperature of the flow by mixing gas streams of different temperatures. Typical applications include gas-powered internal combustion engines and burners as well as biogas plants.

Selection of the Mixing Valve

Our range includes an automatic KÜHME ZDM mixing valve, which can achieve mixing ratios between 50:50 and 20:80 as well as overall flow control up to a flow rate of 1:30. The valve simultaneously performs vertical and rotary movements. The vertical movement primarily controls the flow rate, while the rotary movement enables precise adjustment of the mixing ratio. Additionally, the valve features a fixed mixer that ensures an excellent mixing result. The valve is available with both pneumatic and electric actuators.
